The design is based on traditional felted wool “pennies”. The Pennies are made from appliqued and embroidered circles and stars. There are 25 blocks that measure about 19’’ square. Once the blocks were finished they were sewn together and a 3’’ outer border was added. The final appliqued pennies were added to the intersections for a quilt top that finishes at 98.5’’ x 98.5’’.
