I set the reel blocks in a circle of nine medallion with traditional snowball blocks to offset the applique. I designed the outer border swags and star tassels to frame and complement the center. The red, green and white color combination was very popular during the mid-19th century. All of the wool appliques are hand stitched with matching thread. Then they were embroidered with pearl cotton using the button hole and slanted button hole stitch for added texture.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"EN-US\"\u003eFor the backing fabric I used “Buttermilk Autumn” by Stacy West of Buttermilk Basin for Henry Glass \u0026amp; Co.
