This stunning quilt is rooted in tradition with folk-art applique blocks made with felted wool and embellished with embroidery. The connector blocks, Chimneys and Cornerstones, are also a traditional pieced block. The appliques are from a felt applique prairie rug pattern in Country Crafts from 1981.

I let the applique blocks dictate the color pallet which takes this quilt into a saturated lively mix of fabric textures and color. The fabrics in this quilt came from my stash. Some of the fabrics used are: Hand-Dyed Marbled Fabrics by Marjorie Lee Bevis, Speck by Jen Kingwell for Moda Fabrics, Essentials- Hello Angel Bubble Up from Wilmington prints, Ombre Confetti Metallics from Moda Fabrics, Debra Luna & Michael Morowaka for Robert Kaufman Co. and Kaffe Fassett.

I used my best batting, 100% Bamboo by Winline Textiles and Superior polyester thread. Custom quilting with a mix of straight lines, leaves and curves brings the quilt to life. This generous King or California King size quilt brings art to the bed.
