Palampore

A reproduction 1775 Palampore panel designed by Mary Koval for Windham Fabrics is the center of this medallion style quilt. Palampore means bedspread or coverlet. They were made in India and highly coveted for their beauty and as a status symbol. The “Tree of Life’’ motif is typical of most palampores and is used as a symbol to celebrate birth, marriage and special occasions.

Seven borders surround this panel. Most are pieced using block patterns that were popular in the late 1700’s and complete the historical look.

Custom quilting with extensive background fill and top of the line bamboo batting enhances the beauty of this historically influenced quilt. Its generous length allows for a pillow tuck. This quilt is sure to be the focal point of a well decorated bedroom.

All fabrics are cotton. Thread is polyester.
