Chestnut Grove

Rich metallics and jewel tones of turquoise and purple combine in this stunning sampler. Leaves, flowers, and baskets of fruit are combined with a variety of blocks.

This pattern is designed by Wendy Sheppard and was a four-part series in Quilter’s World Magazine for 2023. I added the piano key border to accentuate the colors and fabrics in the quilt.

I used the fabric “Awakenings” by Stephanie Ryan for Wilmington prints for the background and as part of the backing. The rest of the beautiful and varied fabrics featured in the quilt came from my fabric stash.

The backing has an extra surprise of a large plus sign through the center to coordinate with the front. I used a batting of 50% bamboo and 50% cotton and quilted the design Genevieve using polyester thread.

Come warm yourself snuggled under the Chestnut Grove.
