A Missouri Star Quilt Company tutorial featured the churn dash block; one of my favorites. I found Natalie Earnheart’s pattern “Colossal Churn Dash” was a perfect match to use with 10’’ square cuts of the fabric line “Made My Day” by Anna Maria Horner for Free Spirit Fabrics. I love the bold, graphic and color drenched fabrics. I wanted a quilt that highlighted the fabric prints and was something just a little unexpected.
The yellow toile “Jardine Gris” by Robyn Pandolph for RJR Fabrics contrast with the fabric line and makes the churn dash pop.
For the backing I combined more graphic and textured fabrics for a bit more fun. The quilting has feathers in the churn dashes and waves in the background. I finished it off with cotton batting and used the yellow toile for the binding.
A companion Ohio Star wall hanging is included with this quilt. Size 33’’ square with cotton batting.
Finished quilt size is a Queen 92.5’’ square.
