Gilded Tracks
This quilt was inspired by an antique turkey tracks quilt. For the turkey tracks blocks I used melon shapes backed with fusible webbing in bright colors. The raw edges are finished with hand embroidery using metallic floss and the button hole stitch.
The cream and silver metallic background fabric used throughout the quilt is by Fiyel Levent for Andover Fabrics.
When I designed the layout for this quilt, I chose a two-block quilt construction with sashing and cornerstones between the blocks. A few simple borders complete the layout.
For the second block I selected wheel of fortune. This is a pieced block that looks curved which complements the curves in the turkey tracks blocks.
I pulled my collection of Kaffe Fassett fabrics to make the wheel of fortune blocks. They are bright, bold and color drenched. I also used his fabrics for the sashing, cornerstones, outer border, and binding.
For the backing fabrics I combined Zoo Keeper by Hoffman spectrum prints with two Blank Textile fabrics.
The batting is 50% bamboo/50% cotton and I chose the quilting pattern Pyramids which compliments the points and curves of this quilt.
