Harmony
An assortment of William Morris reproduction fabrics forms the foundation of the colors and patterns used in this quilt. Morris was a proponent of the Arts and Crafts movement. Harmony was one of the key principles in his designs.
I used three blocks: Flying geese, 9-patch, and rail fence as the design units for this quilt. These blocks are set in a grouping for the center of this medallion setting. I then added multiple borders using these blocks and coordinating fabrics to creates balance and harmony. The binding matches the outer border terra-cotta print and the backing is made from more coordinating fabrics.
I finished the quilt with elegant floral quilting and a 50% bamboo/50% cotton batting to create perfect harmony in this traditional quilt.
Finished quilt size - Queen: 93’’ x 93’’
