There is something magical about star quilts. The mottled black background allows the bright fabrics to pop in this scrappy star quilt made from 2’’ finished squares. Traditional custom quilting of feathers and wreaths juxtaposed against straight line quilting in the stars adds the final touch to this merry quilt. The quilt pattern is “Christmas Star” by Jo Kramer and Kelli Hanken from American Patchwork and Quilting Magazine-December 2021.
I used a black batting that is 60% cotton/40% polyester by Winline Textiles. This keeps the batting from bearding or showing through and the polyester adds loft to the quilting. The quilting thread is by Superior, King Tut cotton on top with Sew Fine polyester on the bottom.
